British Parliamentary Debate is a debate style that focuses on extemporaneous speaking. That means that :its a style that requires that students are aware of current events and practice discussing them in logical and persuasive ways.

Age Range: Grade 6-12

Hours: 2:00-5:00 PM
Skill Level: Intermediate

Dates

Session 1, July 11th-22nd (Mon- Fri only)
Session 2, July 25th- August 5th (Mon- Fri only)
Session 3, All 4 weeks, Session 1 & 2, (Mon- Fri only)
Length: 3 hours
Tuition 2 weeks $1200, 4 weeks $2400

Sample Weekly Schedule Example 1

Day 1: Argumentation and Current Events – students will learn how to identify controversial issues in the news and start writing a case.
Day 2 Reutation – students will learn the different styles of refutation
Day 3: Reply Speeches – students will learn how to reply to their opponents speeches..
Day 4: POI’s – Students will learn how to ask the right question in the debate.
Day 5: Practice Tournament
Day 6: Competing Points – students will learn how to prioritize competing positions in a debate.
Day 7: Direct Questioning – students will learn advanced questioning techniques.
Day 8: Get the 1 – students will learn techniques to be the “best speaker” in the round.
Day 9: Offense vs Defense – Students will be drilled on offense and defense and the differences between them.
Day 10: Final Session Tournament!
